General Information

The Arabesque Dance Studio specializes in leading your dancer through the magical world of dance from their preschool years throughout their lifetime. It's so wonderful to watch our dancers grow into our teachers and welcome the children of our former students.

The Arabesque Dance Studio was the first to offer classes in Howard County. The studio is directed by Ginger Freint and Marcia Lachman. Our accelerated through pre-professional ballet classes are directed by Maureen MacNeill Wheeler.

At Arabesque, we strive to create a friendly atmosphere for all of our students. It is important for the student to become comfortable in order to develop the mind and body to act as one, to develop grace, poise, and confidence.

We can design a program tailored to your child's needs, whether it is a class once a week for fun and exercise, or a special program for the more serious dancer. We have a recital once a year to give all of our students a fun-filled performance opportunity. For the more advanced students, we have competition teams, and a dance company (by audition).

At Arabesque, we offer classes in ballet, jazz, tap, hip-hop, lyrical, and musical theatre. Students are encouraged to take a combination of 2, 3, or 4 different dance types.

All class instruction insures proper progression for your child in a continuous planned program from September through June. The students range in age from 2 ½ years through adults, beginners through pre-professional. Each class size is limited to an appropriate number to assure the proper student-teacher ratio.

The studio offers a nine-month term so that the students may receive the continuity the need to progress. Make up classes may be arranged with the studio if it becomes necessary. There is usually another class that they can attend. Please do not deduct missed classes from your tuition.

Our Facility
The studio has a state of the art sprung dance floor, which significantly reduces the stress on the students. The studio has 4 large dance rooms and 2 large waiting rooms where parents can observe the students through one-way glass.

Annual Recital
Our annual recital in the spring is a culmination of the years work. It gives our entire student body a goal as well as a chance to perform before an appreciative audience. Special costumes will need to be purchased for the show.

Dance Company
Our dance company is a top flight performing company made up of our most gifted and aspiring dancers. The company performs the nutcracker annually in addition to a part in the spring recital.
Auditions for the dance company are held in late August. Please call the studio for more information.

Competition Teams
The Arabesque Dance Studio also offers Competition Teams for the more serious dancer. Our award winning teams have consistently place well in competitions at both a local and national level.
